First report

Prior Lake went on a scoring frenzy with eight goals in each half Thursday, beating Lakeville North 16-5 in a South Suburban Conference game at Lakeville North High School.

Down two goals early in the first half, the Lakers (5-0, 2-0) put up four unanswered goals in five minutes and ended the half on a 7-0 run. Prior Lake, ranked No. 2 in the state coaches’ poll, was led by Payton Bloedow, who scored three of her game-high five goals in the first half.

The Panthers (1-2, 1-1) battled back to get two goals near the end of the half, however, the Lakers found the back of the net with 1:12 left to make the score 8-4 at the break.

The Lakers started the second half on another run, scoring three goals in the first four minutes. Chloe Fisher gave No. 7-ranked Lakeville North its fifth goal (her second) to end Prior Lake’s second scoring run. Emma Stanek contributed two goals for the Panthers.
