On Tuesday, Bloomington Jefferson left the field frustrated following a 9-8 overtime loss to Benilde-St. Margaret’s.

Fast forward two days, and the mood on the Jaguar sideline was the exact opposite. In its regular-season finale, Jefferson finished strong, blowing past St. Louis Park 18-2 on Thursday at Bloomington Jefferson High School.

First report

Following a heartbreaking overtime loss Tuesday, Bloomington Jefferson responded in a big way by roaring past Metro West Conference foe St. Louis Park 18-2 on Thursday.

After sophomore goaltender Jane Traylor made a save in the opening seconds, Jefferson (10-3, 4-2) dominated for the rest of the first half. The Jaguars, ranked No. 5 in the coaches’ poll, went into the break leading 14-0.

Senior forward Julia Jones had a banner senior day by scoring a team-best five goals. Her sister, sophomore forward Morgan Jones, tallied four goals.

In the second half, Jefferson took the pedal off the gas and scored just four goals in the final 25 minutes. Traylor finished her team’s regular-season finale with nine saves.

The Orioles (5-7, 1-5) got on the board in the second half thanks to a goal from junior midfielder Sarah McCallon. Junior forward Anna Nicholls added St. Louis Park’s second goal of the game.

St. Louis Park junior goaltender Molly Hallett felt the brunt of the potent Jaguar attack but still made three saves in the loss.
