Centennial halted Blaine’s comeback attempt at Irondale High School on Wednesday to hang on and win the Section 7 title game 14-7, earning a spot at next week’s state tournament. The victory marks the Cougars’ second consecutive section crown.

Cougars senior midfielder Alexander Brouillet led all scorers with four goals, while teammates Cole Jackson and Rawley Scherman, both junior attackmen, combined for five goals and two assists.

Scherman is excited for his senior teammates that will get another chance to participate in the state tourney.

“The seniors are some of my best friends on the team,” Scherman said. “It’s crazy being here again. I’ve always been the underdog and it’s just great to be here again.”
