The Minnesota Minute Men unveiled its list of seven finalists for the 2019 Ms. Lacrosse Award on June 7. The honor is presented annually to the state's most outstanding senior girls' high school lacrosse player.

The finalists are: Shea Kerry of Chanhassen, Brooke Lewis, CJ Froemming and Kacie Riggs of Eden Prairie, Kelsey Viger of Prior Lake, Minnie Bittell of Minnetonka, and Eloise Cherian of Breck.

Kerry, whose efforts this season had her widely regarded as one of the state's top defenders, helped Chanhassen to a 12-1 regular-season record. Unfortunately for the Storm, however, they reside in Section 3, where superpower Eden Prairie resides. Chanhassen met the Eagles in the section final on June 5, with Eden Prairie winning 14-9 to advance to the state tournament.

Eden Prairie is the only program with multiple nominees for the award this season in Lewis, Froemming and Riggs. The trio combined for seven goals against Chanhassen in their section final win.

Lewis led an Eagles offense that outscored its opponents 216-84 in the regular season with 75 points (48 goals, 27 assists). Froemming and Riggs finished with 45 and 42 regular-season points, respectively.

The Eagles also boast Jake Anderson Ms. Goalie finalist Emilie Bloyer,, who led the state with 12 wins earned in net during the regular season. Prior Lake’s Grace Mattox was announced as the other Ms. Goalie finalist.

The Mr. and Ms. Lacrosse awards are modeled after the Mr. Hockey Award, which is also presented by the Minnesota Minute Men. Finalists and eventual winners are chosen by a panel consisting of high school coaches, referees, scouts, members of the media and enthusiasts of the sport.

The winner of this year’s Mr. and Ms. Lacrosse, and Mr. and Ms. Goalie awards will be announced at a banquet being held at the DoubleTree Hotel in St. Louis Park on Sunday, June 16, which begins at 2 p.m. For more information, visit: www.minnesotaminutemen.com.

Past Ms. Lacrosse winners include: Apple Valley’s Reagan Roelofs in 2018, Eden Prairie’s Naomi Rogge in 2017, Holy Family Catholic’s Megan Menzuber in 2016 and Lakeville South’s Logan Halvorson in 2015. Chloe Lewis of Minnetonka earned Ms. Goalie honors in 2017, with Cretin-Derham Hall’s Elle Crawford receiving the award in 2017, followed by Stillwater’s Katie Lottsfeldt in 2016 and Osseo/Park Center’s Maddy Huras in 2015.
