It may have been 93 degrees in Chanhassen at the start of the Section 2 final on Wednesday between Chanhassen and Shakopee, but the heat didn’t slow either team.

Momentum, however, fluctuated between the two teams. The Storm held on to a lead from a dominant first quarter to top the Sabers 13-12. The win advances Chanhassen to the state tournament for the first time in program history.

“It’s something we’ve been pushing for for years now… It feels good to finally get over that hurdle and get here,” Storm coach Jon Junker said.
