Another boys' lacrosse season is in the books and after another dominant regular season, Benilde-St. Margaret’s has taken a large share of the state’s All-American and all-state awards.

Attacker Matt Dowden, midfielders Paddy Burns and Jackson Leischow, defender Braxton Bogen and faceoff specialist Drew Nylander each received All-American honors, giving the Red Knights the most selections of any team with five. No other program had more than one player on the list.

Dowden led the team with 53 goals while Burns, who was also the 2021 Star Tribune Boys' Lacrosse Metro Player of the Year, finished the season with 50 goals and 27 assists.

All five players also were named all-state first team by the state's coaches. The lists were released last week.

Benilde-St. Margaret's attacker Carson Brandt and goalie Justin Dalum appeared on the all-state second team.

Chanhassen attacker Tyr Christianson, who tied Brandt and St. Thomas Academy attacker Brian Goblisch for the state’s lead in assists (51), was an All-American and first team all-state first member, helping give the Storm four players with all-state honors — second most of any program. Midfielder Brady Grandstaff (second team), long-stick midfielder Cade Reding (second team) and faceoff specialist Dylan Kendrick (third team) joined teammate Christianson on the lists.

Goblisch was an all-state third team selection, while Cadets midfielder Baker Reding (first team) and defender Giuseppe Chiovera (honorable mention) also earned nods.

Each player on the all-state first team was also an All-American. Attacker Will Foster (Eden Prairie), midfielder Ethan Mostrom (Shakopee) and faceoff specialist Tyler Kloecki (Farmington) were all-state second team selections who also were All-Americans this year.
