A slow start did not matter for the Mahtomedi boys’ lacrosse team in a 9-5 win at Irondale Friday. The win might be a preview of changes the Zephyrs offense will make this season.

Irondale led the season-opener 2-0 after the first 12 minutes of play in a game where the temperatures hovered near the freezing mark.

However, The Zephyrs broke a 3-3 tie in the third quarter with a six-score outburst, building the four-goal lead that lasted until the final horn.

Mahtomedi’s offense looked much different than a season ago when then seniors Levi Lemke and EJ Charpentier combined to score 107 goals in just 16 games.
