Top performer winner

Ellie Peterson, St. Anthony. The senior pitcher took to the circle in four Huskies wins last week in addition to producing runs at the plate. Peterson pitched 26 innings between the four games that saw her Huskies outscore opponents by a combined score of 48-5. She allowed 15 hits through the four wins — never more than five in a game — and four earned runs while accumulating 49 strikeouts. At the plate, Peterson collected seven hits and knocked in seven runs.

Top performer candidates

Alexa Carlstrom, Rochester Mayo. The Spartans kept themselves busy with five games last week, and Carlstrom took that opportunity to shine. Carlstrom got on the score sheet in each of the Spartans' 14-run games. In their 14-8 win against Austin on April 19, Carlstrom went 2-for-4, scoring twice and tallying three RBIs. In one of three games for the Spartans on April 23, Carlstrom went 3-for-3 with two doubles, three runs scored and four RBIs as the Spartans defeated Rochester Lourdes 14-3. In the Spartans’ 9-1 victory against Maranatha on April 23, the sophomore pitcher tossed seven innings, giving up one run and three hits while striking out seven batters.

Emma Collins, Minnetonka. The Skippers and Wayzata were heavy on the offense in their April 22 matchup, scoring a combined 29 runs as the Skippers took the victory by a score of 17-12. Collins led the charge with a game-high five RBIs as the junior connected for three hits — including a double and a home run — and scored three runs.

Madeline Marvel, Prior Lake. The Lakers set the tone early on in their April 19 matchup against Lakeville North with five first-inning runs, but they still needed nearly all the offense they produced to earn the 12-10 win. Marvel led the Lakers at the plate, recording five RBIs on two doubles and one run scored.

Brianna Ness, Rogers. The freshman was on the winning end of an extra-innings contest against Osseo on April 22 as the Royals won 6-5 in eight innings. Ness pitched in six of those innings, allowing two unearned runs and three hits while striking out 13 batters.
