"I think our chemistry this year has been great," senior Jaylen Rosga said. "I think playing out of state — that four-hour bus ride — really helped us connect."

The Warriors had plenty of talent last season as they finished 12-2 and one win away from a section title. Those two losses came by a combined two goals.

But the season ended with heartbreak in a 13-12 loss to Rosemount in the Section 3 championship game.

"We definitely have mentioned that game once or twice at practice," said Jaylen Rosga, who is committed to playing at the University of Maryland next year. "Every practice, every game, we're not looking too far ahead. But it's definitely something that's a motivating piece."

The most recent win on the Two Rivers/Gentry Academy schedule came 16-1 in a road game at Mahtomedi (1-3, 0-1) Tuesday.

Jaylen Rosga tallied five goals and assisted in seven more in the win, while Eva Anderson and Brooke Tjernlund also scored three times.

In six games this season, Two Rivers/Gentry Academy has averaged nearly 18 goals per game.

"One of our themes this year has been about, 'We focus on us,'" said head coach Jeff Rosga, who is Jaylen's father. "And it's about us getting better collectively as a team."

It is not that the program is full of upperclassmen who rely on age as much as talent. The Warriors have four seniors and three juniors on their roster. But with a youthful team last season as well, the experience is not lacking.

"I really want to give props to my teammates, especially the upperclassmen, for really growing and taking the younger girls under their wing to help them develop," Jaylen Rosga said.
