We task our reporters with identifying several intriguing games throughout the state to assemble our Top Games of the Week. The matchups are presented in no particular order, and when there are additional games we want to highlight, we’ll include them with brief notes.

Chanhassen vs. Benilde-St. Margaret's

7 p.m., Tuesday, May 24

Last season, Benilde-St. Margaret's accomplished many of its goals, including winning a state championship. However, the Red Knights fell short of capturing a Metro West Conference title. They will have a chance at adding that to their accomplishments when Benilde-St. Margaret's and Chanhassen meet on May 24.

The Storm are currently ranked No. 2 in the latest coaches' poll behind the top-ranked Red Knights. However, they are deadlocked in the Metro West. Each boasts a 5-0 record.

Chanhassen has relied upon an aggressive offensive approach this season. The Storm (10-1) have scored at least 10 goals in each of their 10 wins this season. Chanhassen's lone loss was to Stillwater, 6-5, on April 30.

The Storm's biggest scorers are Carter Van Holland (31 goals) and Brady Grandstaff (22 goals).

Benilde-St. Margaret's (11-0) has been perfect in its attempt to repeat as state champions so far this season. The Red Knights have locked opponents down. They are allowing fewer than three goals per game.

Junior attack Carsen Brandt and sophomore midfield Sky Rold will look to keep their team undefeated against Chanhassen. Brandt tallied six goals in a win against Edina on April 30. Rold has been a key distributor, including a four-assist performance against Chaska on May 3.

Centennial vs. Robbinsdale Armstrong

7 p.m., Wednesday, May 25

It's the final week of the regular season, and both Centennial and Robbinsdale Armstrong still have plenty to play for, whether it involves the Northwest Suburban Conference or their respective sections.

Centennial, ranked No. 9 in the latest coaches' poll, is tied with the Falcons for second place and are just two points behind first-place Maple Grove.

The Cougars (9-2, 8-1) are the only team to have taken down the Crimson in conference play this season. Centennial's lone conference loss came to Anoka on April 15. The Cougars dropped their second game of the season to Benilde-St. Margaret's on April 25.

As Centennial looks ahead to the upcoming Section 7 tournament, players such as Sam Rodriguez and Noah Berger look to be key to any postseason success. Rodriguez tallied five goals against Andover on April 25 while Berger had four goals against Champlin Park on May 9.

Armstrong (10-1, 8-1) will look to keep its conference championship hopes alive while also beefing up for a tough Section 5 tournament that features top-ranked Benilde-St. Margaret's.

If the Falcons are going to continue their 2022 success, look to Nate Albrecht and Joshua Mordal. Albrecht is a junior who does it all from attack to midfield to long-stick midfield to faceoff specialist. He's tallied 19 goals in his junior campaign.

Mordal has done most of his work in the offensive zone as he has 19 goals this season.

Northfield vs. St. Thomas Academy

7 p.m., Thursday, May 26

Both Northfield and St. Thomas Academy are already conference champions but will look to build some momentum with the postseason fast approaching.

The Raiders (9-2, 8-0) wrapped up a perfect conference record thanks in big part to Spencer Klotz. He's tallied more than 40 goals this season. His play will be key if Northfield wants to crack the state tournament for the first time.

Meanwhile, St. Thomas Academy (6-4, 5-0) took some lumps in nonconference play but was perfect inside the Metro East.

The Cadets have a 30-goal scorer themselves in attacker Matt Hudson. Look for Hudson and Klotz to steal the show in this non-conference tilt.

Other games to keep an eye on

Chisago Lakes vs. St. Michael-Albertville, 7 p.m., Tuesday, May 24. These two former Greater West Metro Conference rivals matchup before heading into their respective sections. Chisago Lakes (8-2, 5-0) won the Greater West Metro Conference and will look to challenge a top-10 Centennial team in Section 7. Meanwhile, the Knights (5-5, 2-4) have their work cut out for them in Section 8 with up-and-coming Moorhead.
