They and other Panthers (1-0) did not show much rust in beating a Minnetonka (1-1) team ranked No. 7 in this week’s Minnesota State High School Boys' Lacrosse Coaches Association state poll.

“We have some dominant guys on the ball like Austin Winship and Leo Piscitiello,” said Blake. “For the rest of the guys, we just kind of move off-ball. It makes my job really easy to move off-ball and find spots, and they will find me because they are great players.”

There is another Piscitiello brother, Dante, who also was a Panthers lacrosse player who last played as a junior in 2019 and has since graduated. The quartet of lacrosse playing brothers yields descriptions of epic backyard games in the household.

Blake recalled that the boys in the family grew up all playing soccer originally However, they eventually lost interest with the sport.

“We switched to lacrosse, and the rest is history,” Blake said. “We just enjoy it so much.”

Head coach Matt Stonestrom joked the twins Blake and Carson “are the reason my goatee’s gray,” but credited their skills as young players who have already made an impact on the varsity team.

“They’ve been around some of the older kids as well, through Leo,” Stonestrom said about the twins’ oldest brother. “So there’s a lot of familiarity. When those guys were seventh and eighth graders we knew they were coming up.”

Another factor in Tuesday’s 13-10 win was the possession Lakeville North was able to gain, especially in the first half. Much of that credit goes to Quinn Power, who won a majority of the game’s faceoffs for the Panthers.

The team missed Power’s skills last season after he broke his thumb in the season’s first game. He did come back toward the end of the season but needed to wear a soft cast.

Heading into this year healthy, Stonestrom raved about the junior’s all around skills who can help out with faceoffs, defense as a midfielder, and his ability to score.

“He is just a five-tool guy that does a lot,” said Stonestrom about Power, who scored three goals. “And then he is one of our captains, so he is just an incredible leader for us, too.”
