If Monday night is any indication, the early season work by St. Thomas Academy’s offense is starting to pay off.

The Cadets had scored a combined 12 goals in their first two games of the season against Woodbury and Eagan. In Monday’s home matchup against Blake, however, the offense nearly doubled that output.

Three St. Thomas Academy players scored at least four goals in a 21-3 win against Blake on a crisp spring evening in Mendota Heights. Matthew Hudson led the way with six goals, all scored in the first half. Jacob Faith scored five goals and John Dzubnar added four more. The Cadets pointed to a complete team effort in building to the big win, crediting the defense and transition game for putting the offense in position to continue the barrage.

“Good offense starts with great defense, so we’ve got to give that to our teammates,” Hudson said.
