The ball doesn’t seem to stop whirring around the field when Lakeville South’s on possession until the rubber meets nylon in the back of the net.
Farmington rolled out a variety of defenses to try to tilt the juggernaut offense off guard, but nothing was going to impede Lakeville South in its quest for a third straight section title.
The No. 1 seed and host Cougars extended their win streak to 33 games dating back to their 2022 state championship campaign with a 20-3 win against the No. 2 seed Tigers in the Section 1 championship.

The defending state champions are headed back to hold on to their state title.
The Lakeville South Cougars improved their winning streak to 33 dating back to 2022 and moved to 16-0 in 2023 with a 20-3 win over Farmington in the Section 1 championship.
After No. 2 seed Farmington tied the game at 1-1 in the opening minutes, it was all Lakeville South as the Cougars inflicted a running clock en route to a 15-3 halftime lead.
Senior Emily Moes moved into first place in the state with 68 goals this season after scoring seven against the Tigers. Six came in the first half. Moes also had an assist for a game-high eight points.
Gabby Bouman and Sivanna O’Brien joined Moes in the hat trick club with four goals each. Charlotte Fannin scored one goal and tied Bouman and Farmington’s MaKenna Kadrlik with a game-high three assists.
Madison Kadrlik, Caprese Meier and Jaida Steffes scored for the Tigers.
Kate Baell made four of seven saves (.571) for Lakeville South. Brooke Anderson made nine of 29 saves (.310) for Farmington.
Lakeville South won this matchup 25-3 in the regular season.
