Matt Blaeser

A Champlin Park senior attackman, Blaeser had a 20-point week as the Rebels won four games, improved to 8-1 and cracked the state rankings for the first time, coming in at No. 10. Blaeser scored five goals and added four assists on May 30 against Andover, he had three goals and two assists on May 2 against Osseo-Park Center, he scored two goals and added two assists in a key Northwest Suburban Conference victory over Blaine and capped his hectic week with a goal and an assist against Minneapolis. He became the first player to reach 50 points this season and has a state-best 26 assists.

Thomas Gilligan

A senior goaltender for Benilde-St. Margaret's, the unflappable Gilligan allowed a combined 11 goals in victories over longtime rivals and state powerhouses Blake and Eden Prairie. Gilligan made 13 saves  in a 7-4 victory over Blake on May 1 and stopped 13 shots again on May 5 in a 9-7 victory over then No. 2-ranked Eden Prairie. Gilligan has played every minute in goal for the Red Knights, who have won six straight and vaulted to No. 2 in the state rankings.

Dana Almquist

A Stillwater junior attacker, Almquist scored 19 goals in three games, all of them victories, for the No. 6-ranked Ponies as they improved to 7-2. Almquist, who helped Stillwater reach the state tournament last season, scored seven goals against White Bear Lake on April 20, had four goals against Woodbury on May 2 and tacked on eight more goals on May 4 against previously unbeaten Mahtomedi.

Kara Wendell

Her production slowed only slightly on May 2 against Osseo/Park Center, when she scored eight goals. She has 39 goals for the season, placing her solidly in the state’s top 10.

Will Harkema

A St. Louis Park junior goaltender, Harkema made a whopping 18 saves in a 10-6 victory over Cretin-Derham Hall, a high-powered newcomer to the MBSLA. Harkema’s performance vaulted him to third in the state with a .741 save percentage and kept the Orioles at No. 6 in the state rankings.
