Stillwater is ranked No. 5 by the Minnesota High School Girls' Lacrosse Coaches Association and enters this week riding a four-game winning streak, a run started after a loss to No. 3 Prior Lake.
The Ponies (5-1) have outscored opponents 79-13 and dominated Mounds View, East Ridge and Forest Lake en route to a 3-0 record and first place in the Suburban East Conference standings.
Senior midfielder Remi Larson (18 goals) leads an experienced Stillwater squad that has made four consecutive trips to the state tournament, but the Ponies could face their toughest league challenger to date when they take on No. 10 Cretin-Derham Hall in our Top Game of the Week.
The Raiders have faltered as of late, going 1-3 after a promising 3-0 start. At 3-1 in league play, Cretin-Derham Hall (4-3 overall) remains in contention for the conference title, and a victory over Stillwater could put the Raiders on the path to a league championship. They also boast the conference’s second-leading scorer in senior midfielder Sheala Osborne (22 goals, 12 assists, 34 points).
