Benilde-St. Margaret's scoring sensation Bailey Dodds, an attackman who led the state in the regular season with 81 points, has been named Mr. Lacrosse, an award given to the player chosen as the state's best senior.
Dodds, who also led the state with 62 regular season goals, was one of 12 finalists for the inaugural award created by the Minnesota Minutemen.
He received the award on Sunday, June 6, during a banquet at the St. Paul River Center.
Also on Sunday, Blake's Lowell Fluke was named Mr. Lacrosse Goalie, an award given to the state's best senior goaltender.
Player | Team | Pos | College commitment | Comment |
---|---|---|---|---|
Robby Barnhart | Blake | A | University of Richmond (Va.) | What Barnhart lacks in size he more than compensates for with quickness and scoring touch. Barnhart scored at least one goal in each of Blake's first 12 games, racking up 27 to lead the Bears. |
Ryan Butts | Benilde-St. Margaret's | A | Sacred Heart (Conn.) | A pure scorer, Butts had three or more goals in eight of 12 regular season games while also amassing 23 assists. |
Bailey Dodds | Benilde-St. Margaret's | A | Sacred Heart (Conn.) | The state's runaway scoring leader, Dodds twice has scored seven goals in game and has four six-goal games en route to an astounding total of 62 goals in 12 games. |
Jon Hagen | Woodbury | D | Minnesota State-Mankato | Rock-solid defenseman a big reason why the Royals have allowed just 54 goals in 12 games. |
Tyler Lorinser | Chaska/Chanhassen | A | Minnesota-Duluth | The catalyst of the StormHawks' offense, Lorinser has a team-high 45 points (28 goals and 17 assists). |
Luke McNamara | Holy Angels | A | Air Force Academy | The Stars' top scorer has amassed 39 goals and 59 points. His goal total represents just less than a third of the team's output. |
Kyle Mork | Totino-Grace | D | Minnesota-Duluth | Shutdown defenseman helps lead an Eagles team that has allowed just 63 goals in 13 games. |
Matt Murphy | Eden Prairie | A | Minnesota-Duluth | Murphy is an offensive force who ranks third on the high-powered Eagles with 20 goals. |
Giuseppe Palermo | Totino-Grace | M | Quinnipiac (Conn.) | Big, strong and deceptively fast, Palermo leads the Eagles in goals (33), points (54) and face-offs won (111). |
Steve Patterson | Blake | M | Goucher (Md.) | Patterson ranks second on the No. 1-ranked and unbeaten Bears with 27 goals. |
Alex Veldhuis | Maple Grove | A | North Dakota State | Veldhuis' 66 points (39 goals, 27 assists) is more than double the total of the second-highest Crimson scorer. |
Justin Vossen | Eastview | M | Minnesota-Duluth | Vossen has solid offensive numbers (9 goals, 10 assists), but it's his versatility (he's also a top face-off man) that makes him so valuable to the Lightning. |
