Fresh off Eden Prairie's first loss of the season, opportunistic Eastview moves into the top spot.

Eastview (4-0) has moved up from No. 4 to claim the top spot from Eden Prairie (5-1) in this week’s rankings. The Lightning are undefeated on the season, but they’ve been tested in their last couple games. They edged out seventh-ranked Rosemount (3-1) 7-6 last Thursday. They followed that up with a 10-7 victory on the road against Bloomington Jefferson (5-2). Senior Noah Joseph has led the way with a team-high 11 points (3-8-11) through four games.

Benilde-St. Margaret’s (4-0) had the most dramatic jump in the rankings, moving from No. 10 up to No. 3. The Red Knights dominated opponents in their first three wins, boasting a plus-44 goal differential. They got up to No. 3 after a 5-4 win over Eden Prairie last Thursday, the No. 1 team at the time. Junior goalie Jackson Williams made 10 crucial saves in the game to hand the Eagles their first loss of the season.

While Eden Prairie (5-1) fell from the top spot, it did not fall as drastically as Lakeville North (2-2). The Panthers fell from No. 2 down to No. 6, having struggled with a tough schedule to start the season, losing to both current No. 1 Eastview and second-ranked Eden Prairie last week. There is a silver lining for the Panthers. All their games have been on the road this season so far; they start a four-game homestand today against Lakeville South (1-3).
