The poll for this page has an even deadlock for who the voters believe should be awarded this year's Mr. Lacrosse award.

There's a split between Sam Lindahl of Tartan and Carter Collins of Prior Lake. Each player is at 22 percent right now.

Lindahl led the state in scoring this year, racking up 91 points (61 goals, 30 assists). Collins scored 41 points less, but he led the Lakers past Eastview, the No. 1 team in the state, in the section playoffs to give the Lakers a chance to defend their state title. We'll see if the award's voters value individual stats or team success.

Those aren't the only two up for the award though. They will be up against five other deserving seniors for the award.

The Jake Anderson award, given to the best senior goalkeeper in the state, is also being awarded. This year's winner will be either Drew Bouman of Lakeville North, or Jackson Beran of Eastview.

The Mr. Lacrosse Award is given to the state's most outstanding senior boys’ lacrosse player and is selected by a panel of high school/club coaches, officials, and select media members from the state. The winner of the Jake Anderson Mr./Ms. Goalie Award, given to the state's top goaltender, will also be named.

The winner of the 2017 Mr. Lacrosse Award will be named at the annual banquet on Sunday, June 18 at 2 p.m., at the DoubleTree Hotel in St. Louis Park.

You are encouraged to pre-order tickets for the banquet and pay online, but tickets will be available at the door as well. If you were provided a discount code, please enter it in the space provided (this must be done online).

The deadline for online ticket purchases will be June 14, 2017. The public is encouraged to attend. Registration is available at www.minnesotaminutemen.com

Mr. Lacrosse finalists

Sam Lindahl

School: Tartan | Position: Attacker

All Lindahl has done in his career at Tartan is rack up points. He’s played for Tartan’s varsity team for three years and he has 273 career points (regular season and playoffs combined). He led the state with 61 goals and 91 points this season. He helped Tartan advance to the section 4 championship game, where the Titans fell 13-12 to Mahtomedi. Lindahl had six goals and three assists in the loss.

Brandon Wuertz

School: Eagan | Position: Attacker

Wuertz finished second behind Lindahl in goals this season with 50. He’s been a consistent scorer all season, putting up big numbers in games and giving opposing goalkeepers nightmares. Eagan is the top-seeded team in the state tournament. The Wildcats won the section 3 championship, beating Park of Cottage Grove in the championship game 19-8; Wuertz scored five goals in that game. He will look to continue his goal scoring in the state tournament to try and give the Wildcats their first state title.

Noah Lindner

School: Eastview | Position: Attacker

Eastview was a consistent force all year, finishing the regular season 13-0. The Lightning are a well-balanced team, as three different players had over 40 points this season, but their most consistent player this year was Lindner. Lindner led the Lightning with 36 goals and 52 points. The 52 points doubled Lindner’s previous career-high of 26, which he had as a sophomore in 2015.

Carter Collins

School: Prior Lake | Position: Attacker

Collins had nine points (seven goals, two assists) in last year’s state tournament in the Lakers’ run to the championship in their first-ever trip to the tournament. The Lakers are headed back to state after they beat Eastview 6-5 in the section 6 championship game, a game in which Collins had two goals. He led the Lakers this season in goals, 35, and assists, 15.

Jackson Zaugg

School: Eden Prairie | Position: Defense

Defenders never get as much attention than attackers that score a bunch of goals, but defense wins championships and defenders deserve recognition. Zaugg was the anchor of a defense that allowed an average of 6.4 goals per game. The Eagles’ defense only allowed 11 goals in their three games in the section 2 tournament. They won the section championship and will now look to win their third state championship behind Zaugg and the rest of the defense.

Jack Dugan

School: Maple Grove | Position: Attacker

Dugan has continued to progress over the past couple years, increasing his point total from 13 in 2015, to 22 in 2016, to 60 this season. He led the Crimson in goals (43) and assists (17) on their way to a 13-0 regular season.

Lucas Honebrink

School: Mahtomedi | Position: Midfielder

Honebrink does a little bit of everything for the storm, who won the section 4 championship and are heading to state as the four-seed in the tournament. Honebrink scored 22 goals in the regular season and added four assists. The most impressive part of his game this season was his dominance in the faceoff circle, winning 75.8 percent of the faceoffs he took (190).

Jake Anderson Mr. Goalie finalists

Jackson Beran

School: Eastview

Wins are a team stat, but Beran did get 13 wins this season and was consistent in net for the Lightning during their undefeated season. His 5.31 goals against average was ninth-best in the state this season.

Drew Bouman

School: Lakeville North

Bouman made 55 saves this season, stopping half of the 110 shots he faced this season. The Panthers won the section 1 championship and received the eight-seed in the state tournament. Bouman will need to be solid against the top-seeded Eagan.
