Girls' lacrosse highlights: June 5-8

June 5: Abby Jones finished with five goals and five assists to lead Blaine past Anoka.

June 5
 
Blaine 20, Anoka 5: Blaine scored 14 goals in the first half en route to blowing out Anoka to advance to the Section 7 championship game. Abby Jones’ five goals and five assists was the highlight of the game, helping the Bengals decisively outplay the Tornadoes. Teammate Gabby Rosenthal had a fantastic game with six goals in the first half and goaltender Sarah Ganley made eight saves to earn her 15th win of the season. 
 
Blake 18, Hopkins 2: Blake led by 10 goals at the halftime and added seven more in the second half to cruise past Hopkins. The Bears also limited the Royals to just two goals in the game. Shannon Ellis scored six goals for Blake, bringing her season total to 38. Emma Burke had four goals and three assists to help advance the Bears to the Section 5 championship.
 
Maple Grove 19, Elk River/Rogers/Zimmerman 13: Emily Herdine’s seven goals and two assists powered the Crimson past the Elks. Herdine’s performance brought her season total to 56 goals and 22 assists. Chloe Corbin scored three goals and dished out three assists for Maple Grove, and goaltender Celina Francis had 12 saves in her 15th victory of the season.
 
Osseo/Park Center 9, Buffalo 5: Osseo/Park Center’s victory was led by the combination of Margot Coomes and Gabrielle Holton, as they scored all nine goals. Holton was in an offensive mode, tallying a team-high five goals while Coomes finished with three goals and two assists. 
 
Eden Prairie 19, Holy Family Catholic 5: Eden Prairie continued to blitz through the Section 2 tournament with a rout of Holy Family Catholic. The Eagles scored 16 goals in the first half to put the game out of reach early. Eden Prairie's Sammie Morton scored five times, bringing her season total to 63. while sophomore Brooke Lewis also scored five goals, giving her 53 in the season. Goaltender Emilie Bloyer earned her 15th win in the victory that sent the Eagles to the sectional championship game.
 
Minnetonka 12, Chanhassen 11: The Skippers escaped with a one-point victory over the Storm and advanced to face Eden Prairie in the Section 2 championship game. Maddie Waldron led the Storm with three goals, and teammate Rowan Hodgins had two goals and two assists in the losing effort. 
 
June 6
 
Stillwater 8, Hill-Murray 7 : Stillwater held on while Hill-Murray made a furious second-half rally and earned a one-goal victory. Ponies' leading scorer Abby Hagberg scored three time in the victory, raising her season total to 50. Luci Bischoff had three goals and an assist, and Maddi Hafner had two assists for Stillwater. Goaltender Kinsey Weyer recorded her 16th victory of the season as the Ponies advanced to the state tournament. Caroline Cayot led Hill-Murray with three goals.
 
Prior Lake 19, Eastview 1: The Lakers unleashed their offensive attack against their South Suburban Conference rival, totalling 11 goals in the first half of their easy victory over the Lightning. Payton Bloedow led Prior Lake with five goals. Lexi Peer scored a hat trick and an assist, and teammate Ashtyn King also had a hat trick as Prior Lake advanced to the Section 6 championship game. 
 
Farmington 10, Lakeville South 8: Farmington’s Kamyrn Corraro scored eight goals to lead the Tigers to the Section 1 title and a state tournament bid. Ashley Steffes scored a goal and had three assists in the winning cause, and eighth-grade goaltender Lexie Grove had her 10th victory of the season. 
 
East Ridge 15, Visitation/St. Paul Academy 11: East Ridge rallied from a three-goal deficit in the first half to win. The Raptors scored 10 times in the second half to fuel the victory and reach the Section 3 championship game.

Cretin-Derham Hall 19, Eagan 8: Maya Quigley scored times goals for the Raiders, and teammate Megan Reis finished with a hat trick as Cretin-Derham Hall pulled away in the second half for the victory. Molly Busch and Sara McNicoll each score twice for Eagan.

June 7
 
Blake 13, Breck 8: Emma Burke and Emily Johnsrud each had four goals to help the Bears edge out Breck and make their fourth consecutive trip -- and 10th overall -- to the state tournament.
 
Maple Grove 12, Osseo/Park Center 6: Maple Grove found itself trailing by two goals early in the first half, but it didn't take long to distance itself from Osseo. The Crimson tallied nine goals before halftime en route to the victory and a spot in the state tournament. Emily Herdine and Paige Cassibo each had a hat trick in the first half for Maple Grove. Herdine finished with five goals and helped contained Osseo’s Margot Coomes from scoring. Coomes had just one goal in the game but finished her high school career with 206 goals. 
 
Blaine 10, Champlin Park 8: In a back-and-forth contest, Gabby Rosenthal's goal in the second half put Blaine in the lead for good as the Bengals held off the Rebels for the victory. Abby Jones led Blaine with four goals while goaltender Sarah Ganley earned her 15th victory of the season. 

Eden Prairie 17, Minnetonka 8: The Eagles, the defending state champions and the state's No.1-ranked team ranked, used an offensive explosion to dispose of the Skippers and secure a return to the state tournament. Eden Prairie captain Namoi Rogge scored five times and dished out four assists, while teammate Brooke Lewis raised her season total 53 goals with five in the victory. 
 
June 8
 
Cretin-Derham Hall 14, East Ridge 9: Cretin-Derham maintained its winning form against East Ridge and sealed a second trip to the state tournament. Anne Marie Rhoda's four goals led the Raiders, who held off a three-goal run by the Raptors toward the end of the first half to win. 
 
Prior Lake 12, Apple Valley 9: Prior Lake’s 11 first-half goals were enough for the Lakers to hold off a furious 6-1 run by Apple Valley in the second half. Payton Bloedow scored a hat trick and Lexi Peer scored two goals for Prior Lake in the victory that earned the team a spot in the state tournament. Reagan Roelofs scored five goals for the Eagles. 

Spotlight Games
