Blake defeated Edina 14-5 in a girls' lacrosse showdown Saturday. But in a sense, everyone involved was a winner.
That's because the game -- termed "Play for P.I.N.K. -- served as a fundraiser that helped raise $8,000 toward the Breast Cancer Research Foundation.
Junior Meghan Bauer scored eight goals in the game. The overall sense, though, was that the game had a multi-faceted purpose.
"[The team] knew from the start that the game was more about raising money for breast cancer rather than crushing a rival," junior goalie Bailey Dunning told the Blake student paper. "Of course, it's always fun to do both."
