After playing to a 10-10 tie in regulation, Prior Lake senior forward Lexi Peer ended the game just 40 seconds into overtime, keeping the Lakers undefeated with an 11-10 victory over Apple Valley at Apple Valley High School on Tuesday night.
It’s the seventh consecutive time that Prior Lake (5-0, 2-0) has come out on top against its South Suburban Conference and Section 3 rival.
The Lakers, ranked No. 2 in the coaches’ poll, jumped out to a 3-0 lead early in this game and executed a balanced scoring attack. Six different players scored for the Lakers, including Peer, who had a team-best three goals in the win.
Though the Eagles (3-1, 1-1) suffered their first loss of the season they had a strong offensive showing. Senior Molly Moynihan tallied three goals, while fellow seniors Emma Vogelgesang and Regan Roelofs each scored twice for No. 4 Apple Valley.
While there were 21 goals scored between the two teams, the goalies did make some key stops. Prior Lake junior goaltender Grace Mattox stopped eight shots in the win while Eagles junior goalie Laine Ciaramitarro had four saves.
