Edina girls claim road win over Minnetonka, solidify Lake Conference positioning

With the victory, the Hornets completed a regular-season sweep of the Skippers and are entrenched as the No. 2 team in the league.

First Report

Loli Fidler tallied four first-half points to lead Edina to a 11-9 victory over Minnetonka Thursday night at Minnetonka High School. Fidler played a hand in the Hornets' first four goals, giving her team an early lead it never relinquished.

Ranked sixth in the state coaches’ poll, Edina (5-4, 5-2) expanded its single-goal halftime lead by capitalizing on free-position shots and finding open lanes in the second half. Fidler finished the game with two goals and three assists.  

No. 5 Skippers senior Kellie Cole notched a hat trick, while teammate Julia Gallogly tallied two goals and an assist.

Chloe Lewis stopped 11 shots in net for Minnetonka (5-6, 2-4), while Ellie Strittmater made eight saves for the Hornets.
