Blaze keep pace with Irish attack

Leading 11-9 after three quarters, the Blaze needed all three of their goals in the fourth quarter to hold on in the closing minutes and upset top-seeded Rosemount 14-13 in the Section 3 semifinals.

Irish attacker Grant Vanoverbeke scored three times in the fourth quarter to lead Rosemount’s comeback, but each time, visiting Burnsville had an answer.

After Vanoverbeke tied it at 12 with his sixth goal of the game, the Blaze responded with goals by junior midfielder Jake Maxson and sophomore attacker Kyle Kappel, whose goal proved to be the game-winner.

Senior attacker Jace Childs had four goals and  three assists for Burnsville.

Eagan edges Eastview

With 1:34 remaining in overtime, Eagan attacker Michael Kukulski fired a shot just inside the left post, giving the Wildcats (13-2) a 9-8 sudden-death victory over Eastview in the Section 3 semifinals.

The goal was the second of the game for Kukulski.
