Excessive heat forces one-hour delay of semifinal matchups in Chanhassen

Temperatures in triple digits have forced the delay of the start times for the Minnesota State High School League boys lacrosse semifinals Tuesday, June 6, at Chanhassen High School.

The first semifinal, featuring Burnsville and Benilde-St. Margaret’s, has been pushed back an hour to 7 p.m. The start of the second semifinal, between White Bear Lake and Eden Prairie, is pushed back to 9 p.m., an hour later than originally scheduled

“Depending on game-time conditions, tournament personnel may implement scheduled 1-minute water breaks every 4 minutes of game time,” the MSHLS’s media advisory said.

The National Weather Service issued an excessive heat warning for much of the Twin Cities metro area, where record temperatures were well over 100 degrees on Tuesday.
