The final read 10-4 in his team’s favor over Centennial, but Benilde-St. Margaret’s senior midfielder Quinn Ehlen was in no mood to gush.
“We didn’t play our style,” Ehlen said. “We started a little slow and we weren’t moving like we normally do. But we’ll work on some things at practice [Wednesday].”
That attitude has kept the No. 1 seed Red Knights (16-0) undefeated all season. Of course, some of the reason they weren’t at their best owes to Centennial. The Cougars entered the game on a six-game winning streak and were not intimidated.
Benilde-St. Margaret’s remained undefeated with a 10-4 victory against Centennial on Tuesday in the final boys’ lacrosse state tournament quarterfinal.
The Red Knights (16-0), runner-up last season, led 7-3 after three quarters and never allowed the Cougars (9-6) to threaten in the game at Chanhassen High School.
Benilde-St. Margaret’s advances to face Mahtomedi at 3 p.m. Thursday at Minnetonka High School.
